Served at Immanuel March 2010 - July 2010
Interim's Pastor Don Olson and Pastor Peg Olson
(Pastor Don and Pastor Peg began their ministry at Immanuel Lutheran on Wednesday, March 24, 2010.)
Greetings from the Interim Pastors..
What is an interim? Someone who serves in from the time your pastor leaves until the time you call a new pastor. Pastor Don and I are delighted to be here with you and thank you for asking us to serve you at Immanuel.
We look forward to getting to know you and encourage you to call us if you would like to visit. Especially we encourage you to call if you or someone you know is ill or hospitalized, or in need of a pastoral call for any other reason. We would rather receive more than one call than no calls at all. Since we are new here, we really depend on your help to identify people who are in need of care.
A little bit about us:
When we aren’t here, we are at home in northwest Omaha. Pastor Peg’s daughter Shawn Lisa lives with us and keeps busy looking for a job and caring for our two dogs, Heidi and Rascal.
Pastor Don has three grown children, Bruce, Rachel, and Sara. Each is married with children, and all live on the east coast. We both grew up out east – Pastor Don in Elmira, NY, and Pastor Peg in Drexel Hill, PA – a suburb of Philadelphia.
Pastor Don graduated from Upsala College in New Jersey, and then from Ausgustana Seminary in Rock Island, Ill. He was ordained in 1962, in Detroit, Michigan the night before the Augustana Synod merged with other church bodies to form the Lutheran Church in America (LCA). He has served parishes in Pennsylvania, Guyana, South America, assistant to the bishop on synod staff in Pennsylvania, and parishes in Nebraska, North Dakota, and Massachusetts.
Pastor Peg graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania, Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI., and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA. She was ordained in 1987 and has served parishes in West Virginia, Delaware, North Dakota, Nebraska and Pennsylvania. Her last call was at St. Mark’s in Pender.
Pastor Don has been doing interim work since 1997, and this is Pastor Peg’s first interim.
We enjoy working together, and have worked together before in Delaware and North Dakota. We look forward to serving you here at Immanuel.
