Served at Immanuel 2010 - 2014

Pastor Katie Russell arrived in Coleridge on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.  She served at Immanuel Lutheran from August 1, 2010 through April 20, 2014.

Pastor Katie's ordination was Friday, August 20, 2010 at Hill Avenue Grace Lutheran Church in Pasadena CA, her home congregation.  Installation at Immanuel Lutheran in Coleridge was Sunday, August 29, 2010 at our 10:00 AM worship service.  Pastor Martin Russell presided at the installation.

Pastor Katie Russell is originally from the Northern California city of San José, which is in the South Bay area of the San Francisco Bay region.  Her dad still lives in San José;  her mom passed away over seven years ago.  Katie’s brother is her only sibling;  he is married and lives in the Los Angeles area.

Pastor Katie moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where she earned a BA in History and a Master’s in Education.  During her time as a student, and as a recent graduate, she played the flute and piccolo in the Trojan Marching Band.  She was a member of Lutheran Campus Ministry.  It was while working on staff for the University that she discerned a call to attend seminary and become a candidate for ordained ministry.

The experience at Seminary was an extremely wonderful one for her.  Pastor Katie served in class leadership all four years, specifically as class president after the first year on campus.  Her internship took her to the small town of Felton, Pennsylvania, where she served as the pastoral presence for the people of St Paul (Lebanon) Lutheran Church.  Now having graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA, she is excited about serving God and the Church.
